LISTENING IS AN ART

LISTENING IS AN ART
Good listening is the first step toward knowledge and communication or anything else. As per CCE and Formation Assessment introduced by CBSE it has become the foundation rock of progress and achievement. No one can deny the importance of both listening and communication as both account for the formation of the society. Communication is to make others agree, make the speaker heard, instruct others, motivate others, and inspire others. All this effort would fail and go waste if it results in misunderstanding and it is not difficult to find the most important thing that has been lost track of i.e. Listening. Thus, we can see that listening is twice as important as talking if one wants to communicate one’s feeling and ideas, wants to know how others think then it can be possible, but only when one knows the art of listening. Good listening enables us to talk to people and help us bridge the communication gap.
How to enhance this art of listening?
Make that person one’s focus
. Face the person one is listening to
. Try to be attentive to understand the emotions and feeling behind the words being spoken
. Acknowledge and confirm the message
. Paraphrase and repeat key points
. Maintain regular eye contact.

How to inspire intrinsic motivation?

Education is no longer the teaching of 3 R's. It is the knowledge of how to use the whole of oneselsf, be open and sharp, make a tool of every faculty and apply it to all practical purposes with small degree of wit accompanied by good sense. Children should always be encouraged to channelise all their energies and actions towards creativity and self actualization by aiming , planning, organising and achieving. The brain taxing and teasing activities should be meticulously tapped so that the students are able to master the art of foreseeing problems and tacking them senstively. A platform should be provided as per the interest of the child in order to inculate and develop the atrributes of self reliance , confidence, endurance , dignity of labour and perserverance. Basically it is of every child to let one flower into an individual in one's own right and I am sure that one would always blossom into a beautiful human being complete with the proper values and ethos.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

“Education ,viewed in itself , is simply the cultivation of the intellect but its objective is more than achieving intellectual excellence” Some parents think that education in all its aspects is the responsibility of the school alone, but its not so. Education starts at home. There are many ways parents can help their children specially by giving them a sound foundation that enhances a child’s ability to communicate, relate to teachers and peers, their attitude to learning and good moral values. More values from the essence of each human being. They realize that change is the norm of life, resolution and determination are great pillars of strength in the formation of their character that teach them to embrace all without condition, bring unity , dignity, evolution and progress. Such change shapes the all round personality of children .it renews and rejuvenates them. It also makes the practical, adaptable, dynamic & vital and channelises their energies as a constructive force to achieve higher goals in life. If children can strike a balance in life , life harmoniously by overcoming all huddles then their lives will be files with happiness, peace and contentment that is most essential and precious. In life one can not do great things but only small things of great value. Thus , I wish that our children would not be afraid of wind storms be able to see the true beauty of their carvings. I also wish them great success in all their endeavor that strengthens their resolutions and make them not only accept change but also welcome it because both resolution and change heal. May they begin a new in the new year. “Children are like stained – glass windows They sparkle and shine Even when the darkness sets in Their true beauty is revealed by the light from within.” May all children sparkle and shine forever I wish u all a very happy new year
Beware of Drugs

“Even a little intoxication may end in a great fall”
There is scarcely a crime before me that is not directly or indirectly, caused by intoxications.
Everybody is aware of the fact that the young people of today are the adults of tomorrow. The world today offers remarkable opportunities to young. To realize their potential the young move about and travel all across the world usually unaware of the pitfalls like the threat of drugs use and abuse and HIV/Aids that can have dangerous consequences on their health and well being .
Right from the moment the children enter the adolescent period of life, they are consumed by curiosity and the wish and will to explore the unknown. Adolescents and young people at this stage of life are trying to form and establish an identity for themselves and are confused about the ways of the world. They are at a distinct disadvantage and do not know what to believe and what not to believe. They need the support, unconditional love, understanding, encouragement, knowledge and skills all through their growing years to help them lead successful, healthy and fulfilling lives. Their energies need to be properly channelised so that they can grow up into healthy, responsible and balanced adults in possession of the courage to exploit their potential to the optimum level.
UNODC, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched a project, “Empowering Communities to prevent Drugs and HIV”, to prevent the onset of drug use among young people across the country by providing them with accurate knowledge, enabling them to make positive and informed choices. As part of this project, a national awareness Campaign has been launched under the brand name” I Decide” or ‘ Yeh mera Faisla’.
How could our school being a socially conscious and responsible family lag behind. Our school has also establish the “I Decide Club” in the school targeting young people before the start using substances, discouraging those young people who are already experimenting or using drugs, strengthening protective factors and weakening risk factors , teaching life skills to young children to help them face challenges and obstacles in life.
The Need for I Decide Club
· Increased availability of licit substances
· Change in illicit drug use pattern
· Decline in age of first use
· Current prevention effort are minimal
· It is not recognized as a public health issue
· At the community level, no one wants to ’own’ the problem.

Cause of Drug Abuse among Adolescents
· Peer, Pressure
· Fear of isolation or rejection by friends.
· Fear of being made fun of by friends and others
· Fear of being termed a weak person
· Curiosity and experimentation
· Myths about social experience
· Taking drugs indicates high , social and economic status
· Makes one superior to others
· Makes one feel confident and independent
· Use, offering and selling of drugs by elders in front of children
· Easy availability of drugs at home
· Family dysfunction
· Parents covering up children’s bad habits
· Escapism
· Boredom
· Depression
· Emotional insecurity
· Lack of discipline and self control

Recognition of victims

Why is Prevention Important?
· While some take drugs there are many who don’t. The majority must stay that way.
· Prevention helps people make informed and healthy choices
· Experimenting can be dangerous as drug use habits stay
· No one can predict addiction
· An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of curve
· Success rate of treatment is low
· There are not enough beds in the hospitals
· The treatment is long and expensive
